What Is the Central City Companion?

The Central City Companion is a mobile app and progressive web app (PWA) operated by BDITS LLC for the City of Central City, Colorado, and its Business Improvement District (BID). The app provides a gamified digital passport for visitors and residents, civic engagement tools for the 2025 Comprehensive Plan, and local event and deal information.

What Messages Will You Receive?

By providing your phone number during account registration, you consent to receive the following SMS messages from Central City Companion:

  • One-time verification codes (OTP) to verify your phone number during sign-up or sign-in
  • Account security alerts such as sign-in notifications from a new device

We do not send marketing messages, promotional offers, or advertising via SMS. Event reminders and reward notifications are delivered within the app, not via text message.

How Do You Consent?

Consent is collected when you voluntarily enter your phone number in the account registration or sign-in screen within the Central City Companion app. By entering your phone number and tapping “Send Verification Code” (or similar), you expressly agree to receive SMS messages from Central City Companion at the phone number provided.

Consent is not required to use the app. You may browse the app in preview mode without providing a phone number. Providing your phone number is required only to create a verified account that can earn points, check in at businesses, and participate in civic surveys.

Message Frequency

  • Verification codes: 1 message per sign-up or sign-in attempt
  • Security alerts: Occasional, only when triggered by account activity
  • Estimated total: 3–5 messages per year for a typical user

Message and data rates may apply. Consult your mobile carrier’s plan for details. BDITS LLC is not responsible for any charges incurred from receiving SMS messages.

How to Opt Out

You can opt out of SMS messages at any time:

  • Reply STOP to any message from Central City Companion
  • Contact us at [email protected]
  • Remove your phone number from your account in the app’s Profile settings

After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS messages. You can still sign in to your account using your email address.

Your Privacy

Your phone number is used solely for account verification and security. We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS messages are delivered through Twilio, our telecommunications provider, which processes your phone number solely to deliver messages on our behalf.
